Pretty cool experience Sunday night at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA). I was fortunate to be able to attend a live taping of WWNO’s The Reading Life which featured Dr. Andre Perry of the University of New Orleans. Dr. Perry was on The Reading Life to discuss his new book: The Garden Path: The Miseducation of a City.
The episode of the Reading Life will air on Mardi Gras night (a week from yesterday) on WWNO. That’s 88.9 for those of us here in New Orleans and www.wwno.org for everyone else out there.
Dr. Perry has created a narrative with composite characters to illustrate the realities of public education in New Orleans. This book is the first of a planned series of three. You can get your copy at Octavia Books here in the Crescent or buy it from them online.
As a busy doctoral student, I have only had the opportunity to start the book, but I know it will be part of my reading over Spring/Mardi Gras break next week. To inspire you to read the book check out the facebook page!
